New evo Denver Flagship Promotes Community Engagement

For the outdoor-loving people that call Denver home, there’s a new outdoor retail shop in town. Seattle-based action sports retailer shop, evo, celebrated the grand opening of their first retail location in Colorado last week, by hosting several community events—all open to the public. Headquartered in the northwest, evo has joined the ranks of many other outdoor industry staples that have opted to open up shop along the Front Range of Colorado. Located at 860 Broadway, the new evo retail location will allow local shoppers to purchase items online, and pick them up in the store for the best advice, fitting, tune-ups, and more. It’s the perfect equation for shoppers who want a little more conversation about their purchases.

Housed in a 100-year-old building, the new evo space has an industrial feel, and the structure retains much of its original look, including original flooring, exposed brick, and the original concrete beams that were sturdy enough for the previous tenants, a car dealership, to drive their finest vehicles up on the roof. The real addition was the full floor to ceiling window fronts made of custom glass that opens up this space and invites foot traffic along Broadway to venture inside.

Last week, evo Denver hosted several community events, all open to the public, to showcase what their company is really about. The evo team is dedicated to a well-rounded customer experience and they also know the value of giving back to the community. The company is invested in giving back through community engagement, which includes Volunteer Paid Time Off for their employees, and in-cart donations to six of their favorite organizations including: Big City Mountaineers, Chill, Snowdays, Stoked, TSB and SOS Outreach. Founder and CEO, Bryce Phillips wants to share his success and built a company that could do just that.

Thursday night’s event “The Faces of SOS Outreach” was as feel-good as they come. Success stories of SOS youth participants were strategically placed around the shop, and a silent auction, gallery and raffle all raised money for SOS to continue to change the lives of youth through outdoor experiential learning and mentorship through various curriculums. Executive Director, Seth Ehrlich, introduced an SOS participant named Elizabeth and her mentor, Jaime, to talk about their experiences. Elizabeth worked through some nerves and delivered a heart-felt testimony about how SOS Outreach has changed her life and helped her open up and be herself. She later won the Spirit of the Circle award, which is an achievement in openness and being an excellent leader in her mentoring team.

Overall, the night was a huge success, with just over $5,000 raised for SOS Outreach. For more information on SOS Outreach, visit sosoutreach.org and stay tuned for their Eagle River Ride this Spring.
