Creative Quarantine

With ski resorts, national parks, and even some local trails closed, these creators are finding adventure at home.

Us wanderers and explorers are restless. We live to see new places, try new things, and fulfill our outdoor goals. Take away our ability to travel and spend time in nature and it won’t be long before our passions manifest elsewhere. These four outdoorists invented creative ways to keep playing inside.

  1. Erin Sullivan (@erinoutdoors), a photographer and writer, is challenging herself to use objects in her home to create outdoor scenes. Great Pancake Canyon, Broccoli Forest, and the Sugar Sand Dunes are a few of her works of art.

  1. Lalo Rambaud (@lalo_rambaud), a freeriding world champion, discovered a ski slope in his kitchen.

3. Filmmaker and skier Philip Klein (@philippklein) has captivated more than 270,000 viewers with his edit of skiing on his living room floor. “This is what happens when you force a skibum to stay home when I should be skiing!” he wrote on Instagram.

4. Instead of sheltering in place, climber Nate Kenney decided to shred it in place. When his climbing plans fell through, he scouted new routes, like the Kitchen Traverse and Living Room Route, on untouched walls.
