Not that Lance. Meet Lance Herbstrong. We can guarantee there will be no doping allegation thrown his way. At least not the kind of doping allegations you would expect from WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency). Lance Herbstrong will be headlining the The Cirque Side of the Moon: A Voodoo Mardi Gras Masquerade. A Wild Mardi Gras Party infusing DJ’s, live music, and contemporary circus presented by MOTH Poetic Circus this Friday night.
The theme of this year’s party will be The Cirque Side of the Moon. 2013 will mark the 40th, Anniversary of Pink Floyd’s timeless album Dark Side of the Moon. The album will be played live in its entirety by Wish We Were Floyd, and will be fully choreographed with elite level modern circus artists. Circus artists will include world class aerialists, acrobats, dancers, fire, burlesque, trapeze, and contortionists.
World-renowned Lance Herbstrong will be performing live electro dub sounds along with DJ Danni G, DJ Fubari, and DJ Walt White creating a full evening of dance music, circus, and entertainment. This will be a time of self-expression, dance, music, lights, voodoo, and excess…Voodoo Mardi Gras!
Okay so now that we sufficiently have gotten as much mileage as possible from the Lance Armstrong/Lance Herbstrong parity, maybe we can get to another relevant aspect of The Cirque Side of the Moon. These circus performers are plain and simple world class athletes! They jump like Lebron James, they fly through the air like birds of prey, they climb like spider monkeys, and contort their bodies in ways that leave us imagining the possibilities.
Since we are all outdoor enthusiast and athletes ourselves, becoming a little more “circus fit” can only help us in
our respective athletic endevours. Below are a couple of basic exercises that are a staple of any high level circus
performers training regimen:
1) Pull ups (hands facing away from you) 3 sets of 10, or pyramid (3, 6,
10, 6, 3 etc.)
2) V-Ups (all the way up with straight legs, yes flexibility. people) (3 sets of 10)
3) Burpees ((3 sets of 10 or 3, 1 minute sets)
4) Minute long handstands against the wall x 6 (no bent arms)
5) Flexibility (all three splits, both sides and middle) (hold each side
for at least 2 minutes)
The Cirque Side of the Moon: A Voodoo Mardi Gras Masquerade takes place February 8th, 2013 at Casselman’s Bar & Venue, Denver, CO. This is sure to be an event you will not soon forget and unlike anything you have experienced before. Don’t forget this is Mardi Gras, thus the audience is invited to participate and dress in Voodoo Mardi Gras attire, beads welcome of course!
