While all who wander are not lost…all who wander up to Copper Mountain this weekend for the Second Annual Wanderlust Yoga and Music Festival will certainly find themselves more limber, enlightened and smiling.
Thursday marks the beginning of the Wanderlust Festival at Copper Mountain, and those who don’t already have plans for the Fourth weekend should avoid the heat and the booze of Denver and head up the hill.
The four-day retreat is an all encompassing event that nourishes mind, body and soul. Set against the dramatic backdrop of soaring peaks, the festival is an escape the whole family can enjoy. Now in it’s second year at Copper Mountain, the Village is the the nucleus of the festival, overflowing with yoga spaces, music stages, a slack line zone and the Kula Market — where booths filled with vibrant artwork and natural products are exhibited and sold. Daily hiking, trail runs, yoga and standup paddle-boarding are all part of the experience.
The gathering is guaranteed to delight the senses.
Touch your inner spirit — and your toes — in one of the nine yoga spaces. Stretch, mend and challenge your body with more than 100 yoga sessions offered over the four days. A plethora of different yoga styles and intentions are offered. While world renowned instructors lead the classes, they are designated by experience level, eliminating any feeling of intimidation.
Taste at the fabulous Farm-To-Table dinner presented by The Naked Grape & Eating Well. Celebrity Chef Hugh Acheson delivers an elegant meal featuring locally sourced foods from the around the High Country. The unique African-inspired menu will highlight the elevated levels that can be achieved with whole, unprocessed foods grown right in your own region. Once you’ve experienced the epicurean delights that can be created using uncomplicated, conscious ingredients, you’ll be eager to attend the planting and growing lessons in the Learning Gardens.
Set your Sights toward the sky and rise 2,000 feet via chairlift to the top of Copper Mountain to practice yoga at 11,200 feet at The Highest Place, the yoga space located at the top of the American Eagle lift. Let your eyes soak in the spectacular views from the gazebo while you spread your wings.
Listen to the bevy of beats provided from daylight to moonlight pulsating through the village daily. Live performances and acts will fill the five music venues. MC Yogi, Quixotic and Joel Salatin keep the party going all weekend, while Moby delivers a DJ set on Saturday night and a rare acoustic experience on Sunday afternoon on The Greatest Place stage.
Smell your way to happiness as your nose detects the delicate undertones of organic wines by The Naked Grape and other organic, local and biodynamic wineries. Winderlust is the opportunity to sample delicious vino or a frosty microbrew. Local favorite New Belgium Brewery will be pouring a variety of their craft beers on Friday and Saturday evening.
Whichever journey you take during your four day retreat, enjoy the artwork, meditation opportunities and inspiring lectures that will give you a bit of the Wanderlust to take back out into the world.
