The SOS Outreach Colorado-Eagle River Ride is a premier event in the Vail Valley set for Saturday, July 26, 2014 benefiting the youth development non-profit SOS Outreach. The ride loops from Beaver Creek Mountain resort out along the scenic banks of the Colorado and Eagle Rivers including the famous hard-packed dirt portion of the Colorado River Road. There are multiple routes to suit each rider’s ability including 100 mile, 68 mile and 42 mile options. This unique ride not only gives riders an opportunity to ride a course that can be difficult without full SAG support, but all proceeds go to SOS Outreach.
The SOS Outreach Colorado-Eagle River Ride is known for being one of the most well-supported rides in Colorado with four full service aid stations including bike repair and two mini aid stations, SAG vehicles, bus service back to the start/finish for the 68 mile route, and a wonderful after party. In addition to all the support along the way, CERR cyclists enjoy a scenic ride along the both the Eagle and Colorado rivers. One participant from last year explained the joy of the River Ride:
I’m pretty easily impressed when I ride my bike. I mean, it’s Colorado, right? It’s pretty much all gorgeous…well, almost all of it. But I simply could not shut up about this ride last summer (both during and after). The scenery, the people, the roads, all of it. I just kept wondering aloud (to myself or to anyone within 15 yards of me), “Isn’t this AMAZING?!?!”
The SOS Outreach Colorado-Eagle River Ride is the biggest fundraising event of the year for SOS. Last year riders from all over the country came out to support the cause of getting more underserved youth outdoors and involved in their communities. Today, SOS serves 5,000 youth nationwide through adventure sports, adult mentoring and community engagement. Its mission is to inspire kids to make positive decisions for more successful lives.
