Easy to be Green

Green Garage offers sustainable auto repair that lowers your impact on the planet—and saves your wallet.

“Let’s face it, going to the garage sucks,” says Ryan Ferrero. He should know. Ferrero spent 20 years operating and managing a myriad of automotive retail, accessory and service operations for Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Kia, Mazda, Suzuki and Ford. Finally fed up with the way things ran at mainstream shops, Ferrero created Green Garage to “fix” the hassle, inefficiency and environmental impact of traditional auto repair.

With locations in Boulder and Fort Collins (and opening in Denver in August), the concept behind Green Garage is to replace the typical uninviting garage with a hightened experience that includes door-to-door valet service, energy- and cost-saving products, and making it so your car does less damage to the environment.

“No matter what type of car you have, Green Garage can make it run farther for less,” says Ferrero.

Less gas? Less emissions? Less money? Less hassle. “Yes,” says Ferrero. “All of the above.”

The shop uses over 60 green products that are evaluated on six sustainability metrics: solid waste reduction, CO2 emission, toxicity, water conservation, use of natural resources and social impact. Green Garage approves its ‘Green Tuning’ products through an advisory group that includes experts from the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI) and environmental experts from the University of Colorado. The goal is to improve fuel efficiency and reduce the frequency of service, saving customers money.

The day we spoke, the Boulder garage was at capacity, Ferrero was elated, and the world was a better place. “We’ve cracked the code where you can save money and be greener. And that’s the holy grail of sustainability for all industries!” he proclaimed.
