Update 8/18/10:
I just returned from three days of camping and climbing on Colorado’s Western Slope. I brought the aLoksak iPhone sleeve for testing.
I left the aLoksak with my belongings at the base of a multipitch climb during the heat of the day. When I got back to the base, the aLoksak had shriveled up and melted itself shut. Nothing was in the case at the time.
What this means is that this is a great, affordable waterproof bag for the iPhone, but it probably shouldn’t be left on the dashboard of your car during a hot day.

I take my iPhone everywhere. That means I take it up multi-day rock climbs, overnight bike tours and more. Whenever I take my iPhone on a big trip –which is always — I’m deeply concerned about getting it wet. I lost my last Blackberry that way, during a ride home from the office during an unexpected downpour.
Enter the new aLoksak by Loksak. Simply put, the aLoksak is like a bomber sandwich bag for your phone or wallet. Technically put, these “bags are resealable element-proof storage bags featuring a hermetic seal,” says Loksak’s website.
What makes aLoksak bag stand out is its super low price — $6.50-10.00 — and low bulk. The iPhone still works while inside the bag, meaning I can update my Facebook page while standing in a downpour. Or, if someone spills a drink on my phone while it’s in its case the phone will still work.
I’ve used expensive, shock-proof cases for my iPhone, which often feel like overkill. By merely investing $6.50 in the aLoksak, I have the piece of mind that my phone will always be safe from wetness.
