Instagram Takeover: Utivity

This week, a Denver-based company, Utivity — “a marketplace for people to list, discover, and book any service under the sun,” —  are taking over the EO Instagram feed with a mixture of photos of the active people and activities that they represent. We caught up the company’s Creative Coordinator, Chad Vaughan, to find out more abut Utivity’s services, inspiration, and what’s on tap for the company’s future.

1.) Tell us about Utivity?
Utivity is a centralized listing platform that connects providers (pro’s) with users.  Along with being a great tool to discover new and exciting experiences like Rock climbing, Slacklining, or learning French, it is also an amazing tool for small businesses and entrepreneurs to have their skill or service listed for FREE.

2.) What was the inspiration behind the creation of the company?
The inspiration behind creating Utivity came from our three partners and their passion for the outdoors. Their goal was to create a place where you can find exciting new experiences provided by quality professionals, in a more intimate one on one setting. Whether that means booking your first 14,000ft summit, or your first guitar lesson, we want it to be as simple and fun as possible.

3.) Utivity is based in Denver, Colorado. Why was Denver chosen as homebase for the company?
I think Denver was chosen as the homebase for Utivity because of the large population of active people. With the Rocky Mountains at our backdoor, there is an opportunity for people to start exploring and better appreciate the range that gives life to our bustling metropolis.

4.) What’s the most popular activity people search for on the Utivity site?
Our most popular categories right now on the site are probably Yoga and Personal Training, but with winter fast approaching we could see those categories change with enough inches of snowfall.

5.) Utivity is hosting the fifth annual Colorado Indie Business Forum on October 28th. Tell us more…
Our 5th CIBF should be one of our best yet!  This event showcases successful local start up companies with a panel of different speakers discussing what it takes to start a company and make it run successfully. Moderated by your very own Elevation Outdoors this time around, it is a great opportunity to network with professionals and hear from other amazing companies in the outdoor industry that encourage people to get out and #DoMore .
