Quinn Brett’s Road to Recovery – You Can Help

It’s been a tough month for the climbing community, which suffered another big blow last week when Quinn Brett, an accomplished and well-loved member of the outdoor community, fell over 100 feet onto a ledge known as Texas Flake while speed climbing on the Nose of El Capitan. While she survived the fall, Quinn suffered a catastrophic back fracture that has left her paralyzed below the waist.

Known in the climbing community for her indefatigable energy and quick humor, Quinn’s accomplishments include multiple speed ascents in Yosemite and Zion (most recently as a part of the first female one-day ascent of the Triple Direct route),  ultra-endurance sufferfests (seven Yosemite Big Walls in seven Days) and multiple first ascents all over the world.

Beyond her amazing physical feats, Quinn has continuously and generously given back to her friends and community. She has dedicated herself to her position as a climbing ranger at Rocky Mountain National Park and is an active member of her local town of Estes Park, Colorado. She is also a vocal advocate for environmental causes having recently assisted the American Alpine Club by lobbying congress in Washington D.C.

While Quinn has insurance for much of her emergent medical expenses, she will be facing many charges that her coverage wont help with. Her friends and family have set up a fundraising site to help Quinn pay her bills and adjust her surroundings to accommodate her new life. Please if you feel compelled, let’s show Quinn how much she means to the outdoor community by donating and sharing.
