Augmented Reality Goggles

Can you imagine the style of visual display information usually reserved for fighter pilots in their jets in your snow goggles? Well keep trying or keep imagining for now. But come September there is a good chance this will be a reality. Tel Aviv based startup Ride On has launched an Indiegogo campaign to put these goggles into production. After only four days, Ride On is at 128-percent of their goal of $75,000 with over 300 backers. Most of those backers have contributed over the $499 mark to ensure they get a pair of the goggles when they become available.

Ride On is not the first company to integrate visual information into a goggle, though most previous models simply included a small screen embedded somewhere in the frame while Ride On is displaying the information onto the goggle glass itself.

The proposed features are rather extensive including goggle to goggle messaging, map displays and route finding, GPS stats and even games. The latter seemed a little like something that could be distracting on the slopes and possibly cause some accidents or irritations (think Strava in your face), but only field testing and time on the slopes will tell.

Check out the video below and if you’re ready to get in with the early crowd and drop around $500 for a $900 goggle, head over to their Indiegogo Page before March 21.
