Best Summit: Challenger Peak, Sangre de Cristos, with my wife Radha. My plan was to ask her to marry me on top of Kit Carson Peak, but a storm was rolling in so Challenger had to do. The irony of the name, and that it comes from the space shuttle that exploded, was not lost on me, but ten years later we have yet to blow up—or if we have occasionally, we always get back out into the wilds of Colorado and remember just why we like being with each other so much.
