Details are sketchy, but IFMGA-guide Dick Jackson, owner of Aspen Expeditions, was injured in a paragliding accident, Saturday, October 2, near Carbondale. Jackson underwent surgery the following day, in Denver, and is listed in serious condition, with back injuries.
Jackson phoned Search and Rescue personnel after his landing, so thank god he was conscious and able to keep a clear head. The Aspen Daily Times posted an article with scarce details, but I’ll keep an ear to the ground and post any new information.
Jackson has skied, climbed, and played through Europe, North America, and Nepal. He’s been involved in the American Mountain Guides Association as a board member and instructor, and helped develop the AMGA’s ski curriculum.
Best wishes to Dick and here’s to a speedy recovery!
