Avy Awareness Thursday (with Beer, Cool People and Gear!)

Mother Nature’s doing her part, now it’s time for yours. Get your backcountry brain going with an avalanche awareness evening, sponsored by the fun hogs over at Gociety, ApexEx, Upslope Brewery, Black Diamond, and SCARPA, this Thursday, November 20. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the avy-awareness presentation runs from 7 until 8, then you’ll hang, chat, laugh, and drink with an a-list crew. Upslope Brewery will spot you two beers and you’ll also have the chance to win a pair of SCARPA ski boots and/or a pair of Black Diamond skis.

You’ll need to sign up/RSVP by clicking through THIS LINK. You’re headed to the Battery Building, in Denver, off 6th Avenue at Kalamath. Best of all, it’s free. No cash. You’re in. Just show. Yeah!

ApexEx will present the avalanche-awareness talk at 7, and then you’ll have two more hours, from 8 until 10, to chat with Ethan Greene, Director of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center and Executive Director, Tim Bennett, of American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education. Backcountry Access will have their O2 tank with them, so you can deploy your airbag and pump it back up–free.

Last year’s event booked up, so make sure you jump on this–it’s Thursday night and it’s going to rule!
