Several months ago, the cognoscenti at NOAA and the NWS hinted we might be in for another epic winter. Problem is, they were on the take, lobbied by the boozy, immoral minions of that fickle mistress, La Nina. Has her stingy, fickle grasp finally loosened on the spigot of our winter’s snows?
OK, I know the NOAA folks never said anything remotely like “epic,” but man, when they dangled the phrase “La Nina pattern” we all assumed we were headed for another 550 inches up at Dry Gulch. Dammit! Live and learn, brothers and sisters.
Fireweather suggests we might get a good hammering by Saturday morning and the folks up in Idaho are readying for up to six feet of snow in the coming days. The West Elks might get their first really good dump of the year. We can hope.
We can only hope, friends. I’m gonna be trying to get out one of these mornings, in an effort to leave a local stash absolutely skied-to-death before the intrepid Dan Vardamis beats me to it. Provided, of course, that deranged lady-monster leaves the roads passable for a mortal like me. Here’s to the end of this BS pattern we’ve been in…and hello to an…epic spring? We can hope!
