Yeah, it might be desperate in the snow department, but that doesn’t mean we can’t fake it until winter begins in earnest. What better way to get fit and make some turns than a pre-season rando race at Colorado’s funnest resort? This December and January, the freaks at the Basin will host four “Rise and Shine Rando Races,” which start at 7 a.m. on December 4, 18, and January 8 and 22. The races will last just over an hour, feature one or two transitions, and you won’t need any avalanche gear.
I’ll naturally be at the very front, setting the pace and crushing the field. For the rest of you, though, it’s a great way to start building some serious fitness for ski touring and the longer rando events of the year–keep in mind the COSMIC series this winter has 15 dates on the calendar!
The Rise and Shine races are $20 per event, though you can save $10 by registering for all four ahead of time. You’ll only be a little late for work and it will be a serious blast! For the record, I will NOT be at the front of the race. You might be, though…register now and see you there.
