The well-known alpinist Stephen Koch filmed an impressive rescue video in the Tetons this past year. He was linking a couloir climb with part of the Valhalla Traverse, when his partner slipped and took a nasty swing through blocky, lower-angle terrain. The partner, “Michelle,” broke her tibia and fibula, in addition to her thumb and sustaining numerous bumps and bruises. She remained unbelievably calm through the ordeal, narrating her own rescue and managing a smile or two. It’s worth a watch HERE.
Kudos to Michelle, Stephen, and the Teton climbing rangers who work miracles up there!
