Skiing K2!

I linked to ChamonixInsider.com a couple weeks back…and I’m doing it again. Why? Because those boys are going HUGE over in Pakistan!

Trey Cook, the alpine-genius behind ChamonixInsider.com (and a generous host to me many times in France!), is at Camp 3 on the Cesen Route on K2, with Fredrik Ericsson…and the boys are fixing the to ski the thing!

Obviously K2 has not been skied before and Ericsson wants to hit the Cesen, as it has a more continuous line of descent than the Abruzzi Spur. Woh.

Trey is the former editor of Boardsource, an industry trade mag, and has lived in Cham for nearly 15 years. He’s skied and climbed throughout the Alps and has two expeditions to K2 under his belt.

Ericsson is a Swedish ski mountaineer, based in Chamonix. He’s on a quest to ski Everest, K2, and Kangchenjunga–the three highest peaks on the planet. You can check out Fredrik’s bona fides at FredrikEricsson.com.

I’ve not met the Swede, but Trey is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet in the mountains and believe it or not, he’s from Abilene, Texas. Woh!

Check ’em out and follow their progress at ChamonixInsider.com.
