Want 25 Large for Your Fave Crag? Read On!

Yo dirtbags and fellow lovers of the vertical, how about you secure a few grand to maintain, upgrade, or reequip your favorite climbing area? The American Alpine Club has launched an interesting initiative for 2011 by offering $25,000 in grants to qualifying projects. Money can go towards anchor upgrades, parking facilities, waste-management strategies…just about anything but bonfire parties and climber orgies. Says the AAC website, potentially winning projects will demonstrate “substantial local climbing community support, show use of best practices, demonstrate a sustainability plan, and have measurable and achievable goals. Projects require a landowner partner and must show completion within 18 months.”
