Sustain Your Stove: Free Primus Parts!

Have you ever had that one piece of gear that’s been through it all? Maybe it’s your favorite trail shoe or sleeping bag, or better yet, the piece that fuels so many facets of any adventure: your stove. Every time you pack it, memories of past adventures start streaming through your mind…backcountry noodle dishes after a long day on the trail, hot toddies to celebrate a summit, morning coffee to kick off a new day.

But what if something failed? While Primus makes some bombproof, rigorously-tested gear, some parts are bound to wear out. So, rather than tossing it in the trash, Primus wants you to take the sustainable route and simply replace the compromised part. (Plus, in the age of COVID-induced supply chain delays, sustaining our existing gear isn’t just convenient, it’s critical!)

For the second consecutive year, Primus is running their Service For a Reason initiative to provide free repair parts for select Primus backpacking stoves. Growing the culture of repairing gear in the outdoor industry rather than replacing it with new, Primus will provide customers (upon request) with free parts for most backpacking and multifuel stoves from February 1 through March 31.

“One very clear observation that we made in the past year is that the appetite for spending time outdoors is not slowing down,” says Becky Day, marketing manager for Primus. “With that comes the need for people to keep their gear running in top shape so they can rely on it when they set out on their next adventure. We have prioritized serviceability in our design process for more than a century, allowing our users to easily repair their stoves when needed. This not only allows our stoves to become lifelong companions, but it’s also a better approach to sustainability.”
