Wild Country, the original cam company, has redesigned their Friends for 2011.
Friends have only been redesigned a total of three times since being invented in 1977 by Ray Jardine. This latest change uses hot forging technology to give the cam lobes a new, lighter, space age feel than cam lobes crafted using extruded cold forging technology.
In addition to using hot forging technology, Wild Country has also redesigned the triggers, wrapping the stem of Friends with a polyester coating. The units are now more ergonomic.
Attention offwidth aficionados: Wild Country will be reintroducing the “battle axe” cams, otherwise known as the number #5 and #6 Friends in 2011.
New Friends are 15-20% lighter than all twin axle cams and 6% lighter than the previous generation.
