An interview with our runner up…
Q: NAME?
Björn Bauer
Q: HOMETOWN?
Vail, Colorado
Q: CAMERA/LENS USED FOR SHOT?
iPhone with an Ollo Clip lens.
Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SHOOTING PHOTOS?
Professionally since 2013. I was able to make it my full time job in May.
Q: WHERE WAS THIS SHOT TAKEN/DESCRIBE THE SCENE?
Erik Warmenhoven & I had just reached our bivy cave at the base of the Diamond on Long’s Peak as the sun was setting. We had been climbing alpine big walls in Rocky Mtn National Park for the past 2 months and this was our biggest objective. As my first season climbing alpine routes and the pending fulfillment of Erik’s dream, we were getting our stoke on for the next morning.
Q: WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY IN COLORADO?
I’d have to say Rocky Mountain National Park or the Elk Mountains. Both have some of the most rugged terrain and jagged peaks in Colorado, and both offer insane backcountry skiing and plenty of possibilities for technical climbing.
Q: HOW CAN EO READERS CONTINUE TO FOLLOW YOUR WORK?
I have a portfolio up at bjornbauer.com, but I keep my work & adventures constantly updated at facebook.com/BjornBauerPhotography and Instagram/twitter at @bjornbauerphoto.
