MSP’s Latest Ski Film Screening in Golden

Powder7 Ski Shop is hosting MSP’s Fade to Winter in Golden on November 19th to benefit the American Mountaineering Museum

After a balmy autumn, the weather in Colorado has finally taken a turn for the wintry–and that means we’re knee deep in ski movie premieres. As we wait for the snow to pile up in the high country, there’s no better way to pass the time than joining a rowdy crowd to watch superhuman skiers defy death on the big screen.

For the 7th consecutive year, Powder7 Ski Shop is hosting a screening of MSP’s latest ski flick, Fade to Winter, Thursday, November 19th, at the American Mountaineering Center in downtown Golden. While enjoying the usual ski movie giveaways and fighting back your jealousy of the pros shredding nipple-deep powder, you can also do some good: all proceeds from the screening will go to support the American Mountaineering Museum.

And, lucky for us, this year’s movie coincides with the AMC’s monthly Thirsty Thursday event, offering a selection of local craft brews and free admission to the museum starting at 5:30pm.

Tickets for the movie are $10 online, or $5 if purchased in person at Powder7 Ski Shop in Golden. Doors open at 7:00pm, the movie starts at 8:00pm, and you can find all of the screening details by clicking over to Facebook.

MSP Films, the production powerhouse behind McConkey and Days of My Youth is famous for combining mind-expanding visuals with a stirring narrative that touches the adventurer inside us all. Featuring otherworldly action from Alaska, Iceland, Canada, Japan, Italy, New England, and, of course, Colorado, Fade to Winter follows nine skiers who push the boundaries of the sport they love. This year’s film stars Markus Eder, Bobby Brown, Michelle Parker, Mark Abma, and Tanner Rainville, among other cliff-hucking heroes.

Powder7, it’s the Front Range’s local, family-owned, internet ski and ride superstore, with all the gear and goods Coloradans need to conquer winter. See what the fuss is about at Powder7.com, or stop by the shop in person across from North Table Mountain in north Golden, where they’ve been headquartered since 2009.

As for the American Mountaineering Center, it’s the nation’s premiere facility for research, education, and information about the mountain environment. Owned by the American Alpine Club, Colorado Mountain Club, and Outward Bound, the AMC houses the world-renowned American Alpine Club Library, the state of the art American Mountaineering Museum, an interactive student laboratory, and an indoor climbing wall. You should go some time. It’s pretty rad.
