Postcards from the Weekend: High in the Sky

Waking up in the high country, I watch the sun rise in the sky as it paints the Tenmile Range shades of bright pink and orange. I stare at the peaks and feel the need to rise to the challenge and reach the tops.  Through Copper Mountain and along the Colorado Trail, I walk. Every step and breath breeding a sense of accomplishment. As I climb higher, I feel the fresh mountain air sweep across my cheeks, and I can’t help but smile as my goal of rising to the top grows closer. The breathtaking views, the wildflowers that dance in the wind, and the sweet smell of mother nature — being on top of the Ten Mile Range and seeing Copper on one side, and Breckenridge on the other, exemplifies exactly why I made this journey. When I reach the top, I shout out, “I did it! Thank you Mother Nature for reminding me that I can rise above!” I soak in the warmth of the sun, eat lunch, and enjoy the view of the infinite peaks high in the sky.
