Heidi’s got a lot to smile about.

Heidiskis Goes Big, Gives Back
Take one childhood spent skiing in Squaw and Sun Valley and add four years racing for CU. Now add a subsequent career as a financial analyst followed by a move to Switzerland to study at the Center College of Design. Top it off with long blond hair, a buff bod, a passion for the outdoors and meticulous attention to detail. What do you get?

Heidi Blum, and her brainchild, Heidiskis. Now in its third season, handmade Heidiskis are the only skis in the world to feature tip-to-tail 100 percent wood cores, using Swiss white ash for a subtle combination of longevity, flex and strength. Ms. Blum oversees the entire design process—choosing materials, designing top sheets and experimenting with shapes. For 2010, she’s added an integrated titanale layer throughout the line.  That upgrade enhances torsional resistance and increases maneuverability, improving an already sweet ride.

The new lineup also features a wood dragon line cut graphic. The Himalayan etching highlights Heidiskis’ ongoing commitment to donate 10 percent of profits to the American Himalayan Foundation.

Want a chance to get on some of Heidi’s handiwork? Head to Aspen Fashion Week, April 14-19, where you can demo her boards and even meet the lady herself. www.heidiskis.com.
