The 2013-14 season will certainly be one to remember. And even though there’s skiing all year long in Colorado, the closing of Arapahoe Basin for the season — although the next one is always right around the corner — is certainly a symbolic day for hardcore skiers and riders bringing the start of summer and the time to throw on the storage wax for a few months.
Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) announced last week at the association’s 51st Annual Meeting in Copper Mountain that statewide skier visits totaled an estimated 12.6 million for the 2013/14 ski season — making it the highest season on record in the state. This estimation shows Colorado being up more than 10 percent over last season and about 8 percent compared to the five-year-average.
