Celebrating 10 Years of Outdoor Education & Adventure in the Colorado Rocky Mountains

Since 2014, Buena Vista Mountain Adventures (BVMA) has been helping people work and play outside, offering top-tier outdoor education and unforgettable backcountry adventures in the heart of the Colorado Rockies. Over the past decade, BVMA has become a trusted name for recreationists and professionals alike, providing guide services for backcountry skiing, splitboarding, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing, as well as teaching avalanche education, backcountry skills, and wilderness medicine. With passionate, expert staff and deep roots in the Sawatch and Mosquito Ranges, BVMA is your hub for outdoor education and backcountry adventure in Central Colorado.

Exceptional & Unmatched Expertise

BVMA’s success comes down to our incredible instructors and guides—experts who know the mountains intimately and share a deep passion for teaching. During the last 10 years, BVMA has helped explorers of all skill levels connect with Colorado’s majestic mountains, master new skills, and discover more love for the backcountry. Whether embarking on your first snowshoe hike, taking a ski or splitboarding tour, or advancing your backcountry skills, BVMA’s professional team is here to support and help develop your skills to thrive in the outdoors. With the state’s highest concentration of 14,000-foot peaks and over 80% of the surrounding area being public land, the Upper Arkansas River Valley is a backcountry paradise.

Rooted in the Chaffee County Community

BVMA is more than just a guide service or educational outpost; it’s a part of the Chaffee County community. Buena Vista and Salida aren’t just places where we work—they’re home. Over the years, we’ve grown alongside these once under-the-radar towns. Along the way, we have forged strong partnerships with local businesses like The Trailhead, Salida Mountain Sports, Surf Hotel, and Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort, supporting the area’s growth while staying connected to our small-town charm. We’re proud to be part of Chaffee County’s evolution. Additionally, in collaboration with the Buena Vista and Salida Rec departments, BV Mountain Adventures helps local residents connect with the outdoors through accessible programming.

Looking Back: A Generation of Memories

Over the last 10 years, Buena Vista Mountain Adventures has guided and taught thousands of people in some of Colorado’s most awe-inspiring landscapes. We’ve seen first-timers fall in love with the mountains, witnessed lifelong friendships form on the trail, and helped seasoned adventurers push their limits. Each tour and class has been an opportunity to connect with others who share our passion for the great outdoors—a privilege we never take for granted. As we step into the next decade, we remain deeply committed to outdoor education and adventure.

Looking Ahead: The Next Chapter of BVMA

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also looking forward to what’s next. BVMA remains committed to offering exceptional outdoor education and adventures while deepening our connection to the community and the wild landscapes we love. We’re excited to welcome new adventurers and continue growing alongside the Chaffee County community. With expanded programs, partnerships, and opportunities on the horizon, BVMA’s future is as bright as the Colorado sunshine, and we can’t wait to get outside with you! Whether you’re taking your first step into the backcountry or seeking advanced training, BVMA is your partner in the outdoors.
